Japanese companies Fujitsu, NEC, Toshiba and Renesas announced on June 13 that they will seek to standardize their 45nm process technologies for advanced system LSI (Large-Scale Integration) chips by the end of 2006. Standardizing this process technology will enable the four companies to use their partners' intellectual property, with the goal of improving overall production of the aforementioned chips. The companies also stated that they are considering integrating their respective factories in the future.
